Garden
The
Steinhardt Conservatory is the place to visit in early March.
There you’ll see a magical procession of South African
bulbs - among them lachenalias, moraeas, and clivias÷in
the Helen Mattin Warm Temperate Pavilion. Orchids continue
to bloom in the Robert W. Wilson Aquatic House. Also in March,
witch-hazels light up the Plant Family Collection and Rock
Garden with their spidery blooms. Narcissus, snowdrops, aconites,
and hellebores blossom in the Rock Garden, announcing the
arrival of spring. Masses of sunny yellow forsythias brighten
the Plant Family Collection .The sweet scent and showy blossoms
of magnolias are among the early signs of spring at Brooklyn
Botanic Garden.

Buffalo
and Erie County Gardens Botanical
This
Buffalo gardens features a glass conservatory designed by
Frederick Law Olmsted with tropical and desert gardens, an
arboretum and pinetum, shrub garden, and bog garden. The plants
inside are arranged in classic Victorian style similar plants
from around the world are grouped together. Although there
are some plants native to a temperate region, most of the
plants are native to the tropical and sub-tropical regions
of the world.
Open
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10am to 5pm,
and Thursday 10am to 6pm. Closed on Monday. Visit their website

Clark
Botanic Garden
Located
in Albertson, this garden is a 12-acre living museum and educational
facility. The organization is dedicated to understanding and
appreciating the world’s plant life through horticulture,
education and research. Collections at the garden include
native spring wildflowers, conifers, roses, perennials, daylilies,
wetland plants, rock garden plants, herbs, butterfly plants,
medicinal plants and over a dozen collections of particular
plant families. Educational facility in Long Island featuring
native spring wildflowers, conifers, roses, perennials, wetland
and rock garden plants, medicinal plants and collections of
particular plant families.
Open
10 am to 4:00 pm daily. Winter weekends closed except for
scheduled events.
The
New York Botanical Gardens
This
Garden in the Bronx consists of 28 specialty gardens, including
a conservatory, a children’s adventure garden, and a
40-acre old-growth forest. Visit their website for information
about entertainment, educational activities operational hours
and admission. The Garden is closed Mondays, Thanksgiving,
and Christmas and is open on Monday federal holidays.
Queens
Botanical Gardens
This
gardens was created as an exhibit at the 1939 New York World’s
Fair, and today features rose, bee, herb, and perennial gardens,
changing displays, and public programs. Closed Mondays year-round,
except legal holidays. Admission: Free
Staten
Island Botanical Gardens
This
garden with its Victorian charm offers Pinetum, Oriental Flowering
Tree and Shrub Collection, and a Native Wetland Tree and Shrub
Collection, Garden of healing, magical white garden Themed
gardens and much more and stately elegance include the Chinese
Scholar’s Garden. Open Monday - Sunday (Dawn - Dusk)
Admission
is free. Note: The SIBG Grounds admission does not include
the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden or Connie Gretz’s
Secret Garden
