The Old Bull and Mouth Inn, St Martin le Grand

Bull and Mouth Street took its name from a medieval inn (demolished during the Regency period) of the same name, formerly known as the Boulogne Mouth, or Harbour. The rebuilt inn continued throughout the Regency period as an inn and coaching office for travellers. It was finally demolished at the end of the nineteenth century to make way for the new Post Office. The engraving above is probably that of the medieval Bull and Mouth just before it was demolished and rebuilt.
